Welcome to Juniata! We've consolidated some of the info regarding bringing technology with you to campus. .
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions!
To make it easier to access the campus network when you arrive, Campus Technology Services is implementing a remote registration tool. This tool will allow you to scan your machine to determine whether it meets our requirements to access the network before you return to campus. If your machine successfully scans, it is registered and good to go when you arrive (you'll just need to connect to the JC-SECURE wireless network). If it doesn't meet requirements, it will provide you information on what needs to be corrected. (These corrections are easier to make on your home network where you will have full access to the Internet to download updates, instead of the limited connectivity you have while in our remediation network.) Once you've made those changes, repeat the process to verify that it is correctly updated.
If you experience issues with the process, please reach out to use using either the chat tool on this page or via email at email@example.com.
Over the summer, the Academic Affairs and Student Life divisions gathered to discuss Generation Z. We acknowledged and must embrace that technology is interwoven throughout the characteristics, expectations, and lived experiences of Generation Z and plan accordingly. In addition, Academic Affairs read the book Thank You For Being Late by Thomas Friedman, which highlights and dissects three major contributors to what is being referred to as the Age of Acceleration: Moore’s law (technology), the Market (globalization), and Mother Nature (climate change and biodiversity loss). Friedman suggests that these accelerations are transforming five key realms: the workplace, politics, geopolitics, ethics, and community. The advice provided within revolves around the need for the human race to thoughtfully adapt to these accelerations. With this in mind, there is much to consider regarding how we provide a 21st century education. Resourcing and leveraging technology are central to this.
As the Information Technology & Library Sciences team considered institutional technology goals for 2018-2019, we reviewed the Strategic Plan, our existing list of initiatives, and new initiatives that were submitted. We met with each division in the Spring ’18 semester to discuss digital transformation and to seek input on possible new initiatives. In support of CTS’s 8 strategic goals, a list of 20 key initiatives for 2018-2019 emerged as we focused on well-formed requests that would improve effectiveness and efficiency, reduce institutional risk, and improve the student experience, while continuing to keep the lights on.
The full plan is available by request and summarizes 20 key initiatives that the Information Technology & Library Sciences team will lead and/or share with the campus community, many of the supporting projects, and the institutional support that is needed to ensure successful completion of these initiatives.
The mission of Juniata’s Information Technology & Library Sciences (ITLS) Division is to provide the leadership, infrastructure, and support mechanisms to ensure a campus technology ecosystem that operationally and strategically supports: 1) a student-centered living and learning experience, and 2) a productive, efficient, informed, and engaged campus community. This mission serves Juniata and our Strategic Plan: Courage to Act as both a foundational and interwoven element necessary to guide us into the future.
Technology Strategy & Goals:
There are 5 overarching strategies which have been vetted by the IT Governance Committee. These strategies have been shaped by our need to: modernize the student experience, realign resources, address top institutional risks, incorporate innovation, and support the Strategic Plan: Courage to Act. The full plan includes 15 team goals (outlined below), their supporting objectives, how these goals mitigate institutional risk, resources needed to be successful, and how this work supports the pillars of the college's strategic plan, Courage to Act. Please contact a member of the CTS team to get more details!

New printers were recently rolled out across campus. As part of this roll out, returning students and employees will need to connect to the new printers before being able to print. Your IKONSERVER connections from last year will no longer work. For instructions on how to connect, please click on the 'Printing' link above and look for the link that relates to your operating system.
