Connecting to JCVPN (Desktop Application - Windows and Mac)

The campus virtual private network, JCVPN, is provided to help students and employees when not on campus.  It should be used when:

  • You are using any public wifi, such as those offered in coffee shops, air ports, restaurants, and hotels.  These networks are unsecured and provide opportunities for someone to monitor your internet traffic and steal personal information such as login credentials or payment methods.
  • You are off campus and need to access protected network resources (P drive, U drive, library journals, etc).

To connect via JCVPN:

Step 1)  Download and install the appropriate F5 client below:

  • Windows (executable file; download and run)
  • Mac (zip file; download, expand and then run)

Step 2)  After you install the program, locate the 'BIG-IP Edge Client' on your machine and click to run.

Step 3)  During your first run, when prompted for the server supply 'https://jcvpn.juniata.edu/'.

Step 4)  Provide your EagleNet username and password to authenticate.  (On a PC, if you had previously connected to the P drive and your U drive, you may receive a prompt asking if you would like to map it to  a different drive letter, keep existing or cancel.  While all three of these options are valid, normally you can just cancel.)

To disconnect from JCVPN:

When you are done, simply click on the F5 icon in your system bar and choose to disconnect.

Other methods to connect:

If you would prefer not to install a full application on your machine for access to JCVPN, access is also provided through the web page https://jcvpn.juniata.edu.  Instructions on access through the webpage can be found at http://help.juniata.edu/articles.php?search=jcvpn.
